What a wonderful example of how travel can unearth the parts of us we’ve buried under ‘shoulds’ and ‘maybes.’ You write with such clarity and care, Federica, and I’m so glad you chose to honor that inner writer.
I'm so happy to be able to feature such beautiful and emotive writing from my Substack friends - including you and Federica, Neela. Travel, culture and languages have inspired me to change my life and my attitudes. And am thrilled to hear about others’ experiences, too.
Having grown up in the South of France, I'm sometimes surprised by the impact that Paris has on its visitors. Big & busy is what comes to mind first but I have to admit the next word would be beautiful. Bonne chance avec ton apprentissage du français Federica, and thanks for sharing Lisa!
Yes, it was wonderful! Thanks for reading. Well, I’ve never been to Mexico but Paris was amazing. Although, I think everyone has to find their path and places they resonate with. There’s no…map!
OMG Federica, those pictures were amazing, breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking! Sounds like you had the perfect honeymoon. I really admire your ability to speak multiple languages; it's such a gift 😊
They are wonderful images to go with beautiful words and sentiments, aren't they, Bette? Federica is so talented with languages - even without moving she can master them!
They were amazing. I've never been to Paris but wow! And it's a gift, so lean into it hard because there are not a lot of people that are multi-lingual and fluent. It's a beautiful skill to have.

More, please, Lisa.
Happy weekend to you both.
Thanks 💕

I live for culture and identity stories :)
Thank you again Lisa.
Have a wonderful weekend, Neela. I know it must be a challenge at the moment where you are.
It is annoying living in a country where hardworking humans are being treated so unfairly but I have hope that empathy will prevail.
Thank you so much Lisa.
Have a good one.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Luc. Federica painted a beautiful impression of Paris with words and emotions - inspiring action!
J'adore aussi le sud de la France et la Côte d'Azur - j'ai passé un an à Nice en tant qu'assistante d'anglais. Vous venez d'où, Luc?
I agree!
J’ai grandi à Toulouse, la ville rose. Mais je suis né bien plus loin en Guadeloupe 🙂.
Tu as un très bon français !
Merci, Luc.
everything here sounds very much like you had a beautiful and wonderful holiday and honeymoon Lisa.
You got me imagining of what my own would look like and if I should choose Paris or should still go with Mexico.
You’re indeed typical planner and I love that
This was actually Federica writing a guest post, Ral! And I agree with you; a fantastic honeymoon and impact.

Awww thanks to both of you, I’m not sure you know how much this means to me!
You are more than welcome!
Thank you! I am glad you liked the post :) Yeah, I can't wait to visit again. Unfortunately, Paris is really expensive. But worth it!
Well, it sounds like the perfect place for a honeymoon.
What a beautiful story about finding love. I so could resonate with "how do you come home?"
Crafting a life we don't want to run away from is the art. Not the places we romanticise while on holiday.
Lovely comment, thank you!
You are spot on, there, Raksha. It's up to us to make it happen, wherever we are. Federica has described these feelings and truths so beautifully.
I love taking an external trip to delve into an internal journey. You have a penchant for language, which is wonderful to hear.
Thank you for these kind words! Your comment made my day :)
Federica has described this transformative experience beautifully, as you say, Hans. Thanks for engaging.
A marvelous 'love' story all around. I've been to Paris several times and it remains one of the few cities I could visit over and over again.
I agree, Paris is magical and Federica's layered love story about it is wonderful.
I can't wait to go back there! Thanks for taking the time to read:)
You're most welcome, and thank you for sharing your story with me.
